"Economic Vision For Empowering The Church”

New Bethel Church Of God In Christ is an “empowerment” ministry.  A ministry which re-focuses our mission and attention on the critical needs of the whole individual and community rather than just spiritual or religious needs. The New Bethel community’s religious needs always include common survival needs, as well as spiritual needs. Since there can be no religion without daily survival, an “empowerment” ministry, to be progressive, must address both the spiritual and the physical well being of the individual and the community, or the vital mission of the church will not be accomplished.

Our community's needs are not only of the spiritual sense, but also the physical, social, psychological, and economic. The secular institutions cannot be relied on to guard with the commitments of Christian love and the humanitarian interests of all people...only the church can do that.

“Economic Vision For Empowering The Church” is our logical response to the fact that we are presently in the world, not of it, and being in the world requires the full armor of faith to survive. The auxiliaries of the spiritual quest; schools, retirement homes, drug clinics, employment services, well-baby clinics, credit unions, affordable housing, etc. are also the "business" of the Church which remains, as has always been, ministering to the whole person and the whole community. At New Bethel Church Of God In Christ, our mission is ministering to the whole person and community.

As the mission of New Bethel Church continues to broaden, its efforts to encompass the entire spectrum of humanitarian needs within its membership will require increasingly sophisticated leadership skills at the top, and seeks to find this in the increasing number of second-career men and women entering the Christian service after successful business and professional careers. The social crises we now face in the community should produce no crisis of leadership in the move toward economic empowerment. A lawyer, a teacher, an accountant, a securities broker, or a banker need not be ordained to share the burden of leadership in the church. They only need to be invited.

Thus, New Bethel Church Of God In Christ is grateful to be a Covenant Partner and in networking with the Regional Neighborhood Community Development Corporation (RNCDC). Since RNCDC’s purpose is to financially empower God’s people, the New Bethel Church Of God In Christ make the most of these services to achieve our spiritual and economic goals.

Elder Joseph Roberts, Pastor of New Bethel Church Of God In Christ, is an Economic and Real Estate Developer working with churches in the City of New Orleans to develop not only their physical house of worship, but also revitalize the spiritual well-being of God's people.  New Bethel Church is a Church Project Member of RNCDC assisting us in obtaining grants for our community and church mission, ministry and economic vision.
